Yes: Cattleya leopoldii Verschaffelt. 1854
Named in honor of the first king of the Belgians Leopold I (King from 1831 to 1865).
The Verschaffelt's greenhouses were created at Ghent in 1825, three members of this compagny explorated the Brasil (and also Mexico and Guyana), theTonel brothers and François Devos. This is probably one of them which brought back to Belgium the first Cattleya leopoldii.

Afflicted for the delay but I have to seek some informations. The greenhouses were destroyed during the first World War (1914-1918).The interest for the orchids has decreased at the profit for plants which are growing more fast and which consumes less energy, azaleas and begonias mainly. These greenhouses were located at the place known as: Coupure in Ghent. An avenue of this district wears the name of: Lindenlei. It is a small orchids collection at the Botanic Institut of the University of Ghent in the center of this town. If you travel in Belgium don't hesitate to visite Ghent and Bruge and of course Bruxelles and it's Great Place.
