This is an old Epicattleya hybrid (the RHS now lists it as Guarechea instead of Epicattleya, but they are so mixed up that I am sticking with the old names). The hybrid was registered in 1955 and a number of clones are still around. The flowers are non-resupinate (they don't turn over but hold their lip uppermost) like the parent, Encyclia fragrans. They are also fragrant. It was one of my first orchids, given me by the former caretaker of the Astor Estate in Tarrytown, New York.
