Beautiful flowers, Ronald. And quite good photos too!
But, unfortunately for us poor orchid lovers, they are not Sophronitis anymore!
All those species that once were Laelia (Brazilian ones) and then Sophronitis are now Cattleya. So, Cattleya alaorii, Cattleya sincorana, Cattleya coccinea, Cattleya cernua, Cattleya purpurata...!!!
Well, it is my personal choice, but I will continue to use the old nomenclature because who knows how long this new names are going to last?

Wow, nice pics. Thanks for sharing. So, did Sophronitis disappear?

The upcoming lumping of Odontoglossum into Oncidium should excite a few people also! I don't know too many people that are changing tags yet....

Looks like I better stick with the old names also. Didn't know that they'd been moved to Cattleya, but it does get to be a bit of joke after a while, especially since the RHS revised its whole system of hybrid nomenclature on some of the recent changes including the Laelia to Sophronitis thing.

Well, they got crazy with the new hybrid combinations and simply lost their way. There was a moment their hybrid database was nothing less than a mess. Also, it seems that they must have "realized" that most of the people was not comfortable with that Sophronitis thing. Most of the orchid people refused using it. So they clearly forced the new situation, in my opinion. Let's wait to see how long it will take until they "realize" this new Cattleya thing also is not the best solution.

Call me a splitter! LOL Heck, morphologically, the group could easily be split. I like Chiron and Castro's breakdown.
I do wish people would develop the methods and markers better, though, before deciding to release earth-shattering revisions.
Also what the F business does the Royal HORTICULTURAL Society have trying to restructure the TAXONOMIC keys? Too many cooks (almost typed "kooks," which I think you'll agree is equally appropriate) in not enough kitchen, i say.
Furthermore, to the post originator: Looked through your pics. Nice Homalopetalums. Nice to see such an uncommonly cultivated member of the subtribe.
