I've seen the Laelia cultivar Pine Knot around and it is tenebrosa all the way.

I recently killed a L. tennabrosa. After readinh a culture sheet I knew why. I have purchased another and will attempt to grow it successfully. If there is a secret I'm interested. Tom Smith

I've killed a couple in my time, as well Tom
I'm heavy on watering and cool days + water = dead as a doornail.
Keep trying they are so worth the effort

Thanks - My new tennabrosa is in a 5" pot - mdeium is1/4 - 1/2" rock. The grower told me to grow it that way. With the weather as it is I have it temporarily in a bath room. I'm determined to grow one!

Hi Jan,
This tenebrosa is L. tenebrosa 'Pine Knot' x self, so the color variation could be quite a range. 'Pine Knot' is the clonal name, not a variety of L. tenebrosa, FYI.

The flowers just started to open yesterday. They still need to get a bit flatter and higher. By the way, how's your plant doing David??? Have you noticed how the color has intensified from the last blooms to these ones??

I had a plant of L. tenebrosa 'Pine Knot' x self that also bloomed out to be decidedly NOT tenebrosa.

looking to this particular picture In my opinion is not pure, is somehow close, but not pure at all. Sorry to say that but it have some laeliocattleya shape and color pattern details, and if the plant of this thread is a self of it and shows even more laeliocattleya "details", them at least for me is confirmed.

A curious thing about the photo you've found here...it is from the same plant that Rolando has now, only it is from the first time it bloomed as a seedling.
I have an inquiry to the grower that I bought this from to find out more about its parentage. I am sure that they had it labled correctly, but am going to find out if their source may have had it wrong. I'll post what I find out, and maybe we can clear up the question about it being all tenebrosa or if it is a hybrid of some kind.
It is of my opinion that it is a tenebrosa showing variance from the norm.
