Is it normal for a leaf to die off during this stage??
Here is the latest picture still waiting for this beauty to bloom out.

It looks like the sheath is dying back, not the leaf. No need to be concerned - the sheath is getting out of the way of the flowers! Enjoy!

dr dmd is right, it's normal for the sheath to dry up at this point in development. It may take the plant a while to bring all those blooms to maturity but when it does what a show it will be! Awesome growing! I never get tired of seeing this cross. Looks like the very top bud is starting to color up a bit.

Here is the first bloom of my catt it isn't bloomed out all the way but hey I couldn't wait. Can't seem to get the right angle or color but what the hey.

here is this latest on this catt now I see why it is called trick or treat the orange is really hard to catch.
