Cattleya Lueddemanniana and encyclia cordigera
As I mentioned in another thread, we are now in the blooming season of the Cattleya Lueddemanniana. The one I am showing here is its second blooming since it was acquired and is a clone of two very well recognized parents (Yamile and Maruja). Also is the blooming season of the encyclias cordigeras, the one I am showing was collected very near to my home last year on a dead tree. Hope you enjoy both pictures.

Thanks Mauro for your coment, that encyclia is relatively common here in Venezuela. I was able to see in the foothills near Caracas, huge plants on big trees with a breathtaking flowers spikes. It likes hot and humid enviroments and is relatively easy to cultivate.

That must really be breathtaking, Bruno. I grow Encyclia cordigera, but my plant has pink lips. It is not the dark purple we see in the variety rosea, nor the beautiful clean white I see on yours!

The Catt is great but I really love the cordigera! The white lipped variety with a pink spot is definitely my favorite! Hopefully mine is old enough for blooms this year.

Thanks for all the comments. The white form cordigera is considered by some people as a semi alba clone and its distribution is all over Venezuela. It is a very strange matter because the rosea is not present in Venezuela but it is found in Central America and Colombia. I do not know which one can be found in Brazil, but in any case both forms are very beautifull considering also the sweet fragance as an important complement of the plant. Thanks again to everyone for such a nice comments.
