After looking for months for a plant like this row of blooms.

My division I was given.
A picture of blooms that I took home from my friend.

After several talks with my friend I was given a piece of the same plant that the bloom came from.
.
I am not sure what the piece sticking out is called since I haven't learned all the different terms yet and how it will eventually produce a bloom at least I hope so. Since I am new to the orchid scene I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is next with the growth of this catt. Will this form into a leaf and blooming is a way off?? I am really just happy to see more life from the catt.

Lucky you! Such a beautiful orchid with soooooo many blooms. The new growth you see will be a new pseudobulb, which in turn will develop leaves on top and if you are lucky enough develop a sheath from which the blooms will grow. It appears that you have several older pseudobulbs so the new growth should produce flowers for you in the next blooming cycle. I am not familiary with this particular orchid so i don't know when that would be. Good luck and happy growing. Keep us informed of your progress.

Thanks for the info Don it is much appreciated. I will keep ya posted. Yeah my friend he said that it would be better to take a piece of his so I would have blooms sooner then buying from someone and having to wait.

You sure are lucky to get a piece of this. It's beautiful and I have never seen a catt that bloomed like that.

This is a very large plant that is sure to bring lots of "oooohhhhs" and "ahhhhhs." Here in Honolulu, this cross seems to win a lot of awards because it is absolutely stunning to see and yours in no exception! Your friend gave a very valuable plant and I look forward to seeing its progress over the years!!

Good job. I cannot image a cattleya is able to produce so many flowers on a spike. I now add it to my wish-list.
