This bud started to open Sunday, I took the photo; by Monday p.m., the flower was closing up. I can only surmise that some ~randy~ insect had its way with my flower before I could bring it inside. This particular plant produces flowers without the little red splotch that most have on the lip. Pure pale green.
Luckily some other buds are in the works.
Intoxicating scent!

The coloring is such a cooling effect. Very, very nice. I've never seen before. Sorry it lasted such a short time but you were clever enough to take a pic. Thanks.
The flower looks great and so does the pic! Good work! Is this species like its brother (digbyana) that has a citrusy scent at night? Is it also slow growing like digbyana? Ive never owned this species but a local nursery has 'em for sale and I might have to pick one up!
Hi Steve -
Yes, the scent is similar, very sweet and heady - lemon creme pie.
I don't know that I'd call it slow growing, but it is certainly a much more compact plant than digbyana; mine has been on the same chunk of cork for 8-ish years; short internodes and smaller foliage than its cousin. And apparently irresistible - I won't make the same mistake with the other flowers.

It's beautiful Nancy...and the photo is superb! Thanks for sharing it with us.
I have one of these little guys in my collection, and the flowers never seem to last very long...but they are beautiful when they show. I don't know if I'd call it a slow grower, but it's definitely not a fast grower either. That's my worth.

I have one that has been growing on a piece of tree fern for about eight years as yours has. It has two leads and I only get two new growths per year. It is in sheath now so I will let you know if the flowers are short lived.
