Dark Cattleya Hardyana
This is very dark if you take into account the parents (yellow for C. dowiana and lavender for C. warscewiczii). But, hybridizers have noticed that it is an interesting fact that when the yellow C. dowiana is crossed with a lavender it has the effect of enhancing the lavender of the other parent in several plants of the offspring.

Another great one! Im wondering, have you seen any Hardyana hybrids with dowiana var rosita as the parent? What a dark Hardyana like this one result from the dark rosita parent? As always, thanks for the info and for the great pics!!

You're right. That is very dark for a C Hardyana. As usual the photography is exquisite.

I haven't seen any cross having 'Rosita' as a parent until now, Steve. I have no clue on its genetic behavior. Nevertheless, it is not out of purpose anticipate that it can generate dark progeny. The flower above and another very dark clone came from the same sow involving regular yellow dowiana.

Hi Mauro,
You've posted a few of the Hardyana hybrids...and this is one of the more stunning ones (although I have loved them all)!
Thanks for your posting and for your wonderful photography!
