This was actually from late Summer and forgot to post. First bloom for me. I love the shape, even though the spindly petals and sepals make it difficult for my camera to focus, so please excuse the blurrys! I loves me some fragrant orchids and that's why I got it. That being said, I must admit I'm a little disappointed at the fragrance. to me, it smells like a mix of baking sugar cookies and burning leaves!!!!
Nice one! The pictures are good too, really not that blurry, unless you're a perfectionist. Interesting smell analysis.
I keep hoping that my mystery epi will surprise me with some unusual blooms like that. As long as they aren't pink I'll be fine (no offense to anyone partial to pink! ) I've only had it a little over a year and it was in bad shape when I got it, so maybe in another year or two.
Very nice one, George! I like it a lot! Epi nocturnum is a wide spread species. We have it here in my region, but here all the plants have cleistogamic flowers, so they don't open. It is interesting that if you enter a small piece of forest (where the forest still exists!!), you see dozens and dozens of it , all of them with several pods forming, but no flowers at all!
Very cool, George! I love it!! How tall is it? Is that a 4" pot it's in? Inquiring minds with wish lists want to know...
Hey Yvan! Good peepers ya got there: that is a 4 inch pot. I don't yet know how tall this thing gets, yet. So far it stands, errrr droops, about a foot tall. Another pbulb is on the rise and the older pbulb has another flower bud a week or two from opening!
