My absolute favorite...C Chocolate Drop 'NOK'
Anybody who knows me, knows that C Chocolate Drop is the top orchid for me!
This time, she's giving me 3 spikes with a total of 12 buds...and the first spike has started the show!
It couldn't have come at a better time as this Thanksgiving is going to be very hard for me and I really needed this pick-me-up...I'm taking this one as a gift from Mom
Enjoy

Now that's the first Cat I really could love! Thanks for that one Susanne. It may just have to squeeze into a small space in my house (now where could that be?)

It looks so nice Sue. I really like the dark waxy looking chocolate color. Chocolate Drop is the perfect name for it!
I see that you like it so much that it is now your avatar! Perfect choice.

Ross, that would depend on what you consider a small space
This plant is in an 8" pot and is about 18" tall

I think it might be time to swap out one of my remaining biggies for this one. I've also got another south-facing window with a huge Phal that needs a companion. Mind saying where you got yours? 8" pot is doable. I have a couple in 9" waterlily baskets. I just love those colors!

I'm happy to see how much you like this one, Ross! I just LOVE any form of Chocolate Drop...AND any and all hybrids with it in it's parentage. I can spot them a mile away
I got this one from Bill Byrd of Byrd's Orchids here in Florida. He actually didn't have any for sale in his greenhouses but when I told him how much I love the plant and was so hoping for one, he went to his personal GH and brought one out to me! I will forever be grateful to him and his lovely wife Wanda.
The one I have, which is "NOK' is not one commonly found. The easier ones to find would be 'Volcano Queen' and 'Kodoma'
The difference is usually in the shadings of the lip.

I'll keep an eye open and notify you when I see one available.

As always, Chocolate Drop shows beauty! Congrats, Susanne. The commonly found clone here is 'Kodama', but here and there we can find some different ones. I once saw one to drool upon... larger petals than the average, star-shapped waxy flowers, flat lips. I saw it only one time in a show here in São Paulo and never again.

That must have been amazing to see!
This one always makes me stop in my tracks at shows...I will stand and stare at it until whoever I'm with comes to drag me away!

That's lovely, Susanne! I have a seedling of this plant, and it's wonderful to see what it might become.
