Thanks for all the kind words!

Is it a safe guess to think that this was a cross between a C. dowiana var. aurea and C. warscewiczii var alba? I think that the color combination here is just fantastic.
By the way, do you know of any Brazillian vendor that might ship to the US, and that has this plant available? I can't locate one here that sells this guy...and I have a very strong urge to add one to my collection!

No, David, this is not daughter of C. aurea and C. warscewiczii var. alba, although this is would not be completely out of purpose. Actually, my plant comes from a cross of two purple regular C. Hardyana, or a sib cross between two Hardyanas, if you prefer. Genetics explains it all. Cattleya Hardyanas from the first generation, represented by crossing the yellow Cattleya aurea - genes yy - with the purple C. warscewiczii -genes PP - (where 'yy' are the recessive genes for yellow and 'PP' the dominant genes for purple) are all purple flowers because the purple in C. warscewiczii is dominant over the yellow in C. dowiana:
yy x PP = yP, yP, Py and Py = all the four possible combinations produce purple progeny because the gene for Purple is present is all plants.
But, when you sib cross two Hardyanas from the first generation, more or less two Hardyanas from the F2 generation will be yellow (light cream, or even almost white sepals and petals, in my experience). Take two of the above and cross it, lets say the first and the third genetic pairs:
yP x Py = yP,
yy, PP and Py
One out of four Hardyanas from the F2 generation do not have the purple gene thus allowing the yellow to appear.
So, my plant, as well as five other yellow or semi-alba I have in my collection came out from a sib cross of two purple Hardyanas. The cross was made targeting exactly the yellow/cream/semi-alba Hardyanas.
As for a Brazilian vendor I know that Floralia, a nursery based in Rio de Janeiro, accepts orders in the USA, I mean, you can place an order through their site on the Internet and then they deliver the plants in the USA. Try to contact them and ask for the plants you'd like to have (just google 'Floralia' and you'll be there).

I bought 30 or 40 plants in compots times ago, Steve. As I said above, this is a sib cross between two regular Hardyanas. Several opened purple as expected, but I knew that two or three in ten would be yellow or whitish and it happened as expected too. I was lucky that this one and another I call 'Sunlight' are perfect jewels!
