I just got this plant over the weekend. It not only has a spike it also has a spike with a Keiki. The keiki is very small. How large should I let it get before I plant it and do the roots need to be treated with anything before it gets planted? I know it probably has a way to go it's probably only 1 inch across at this point.
I wanted to give some well suited advice, but could not find your plant in my database; however I do have some general suggestions for you regarding your keiki.
Whenever I remove a keiki from the mother plant, I always make sure that it has enough roots to support itself. The rule of thumb I use is that it must have at least 3 or 4, 2 to 3 inch long roots, more if it is a large keiki, less for a small one.
