Catt help please, must repot?

Hey guys, I sorta need help on this since I don't really grow catts too much. These were given to me since they were not getting attention just thrown in a corner. So although I wouldn't call it a rescue, I would like to get them back in better shape.
I really don't want to repot. So can they stay as they are and just get proper nutrition, you know watering, fertilizing, shading/sun. Or do they HAVE to get repotted and if they do..I hope you say no...well see they can't get repotted, they are too big, I would have to cut them and separate them and woah, too much work.
If I did make time to repot I could put it off till spring right? Cause don't you have to wait till spring to repot catts?

The last 3 could probably wait for another year or so. The others are very pot-bound and should be divided and repotted. I'd wait until new roots start in the early spring. Just remove from pot and divide so you have several pseudobulbs as a group. Remove any nasty roots and dead pseudobulbs (brown). Pot with the cut edge against the side of the new pot so the new growth will be directed into the pot and use whatever planting media you like. All the extras make great give-aways.

just grit your teeth and dive right in with the shears...its not as nasty a job as you imagine, and think of all the nice gift plants your friends will get! you can DO it, lol

Ok I will DO it LOL but where is the land of milk and honey?

do you always have to divide a large plant. At shows the plants are very large and magnificent. Could the first one be repotted as a large plant, being cleaned up in the process?

I think (corrections welcomed!) it depends on what YOU like and if the plant is much too root bound. I like seeing big specimen plants!
