That's a real neat looking flower, Don! I like the speckles.

Don,
If this is Little MArmaid 'Janet', its parents are C. walkeriana X Maikai.
I've been wanting to get one of this, where did this come from?
Ben

bejay - The tag that I have is exactly the way I have it listed. Mermaid not MArmaid. Doesn't say anything about walkeriana. I purchased it from Featherstone Orchids in Fla.

Hi Don

There is a long-standing point of confusion on this one...the true name is:

Brassocatanthe Little Marmaid
(Cattleya walkeriana x Brassanthe Maikai)

Almost every tag I've ever seen in this plant has it listed as Mermaid...but that is incorrect.

I'm also very surprised to see that Ed (at Featherstone) has the wrong parentage listed
If the parentage on the tag were correct, this plant would be:

Brassanthe Maiaca
(Brassanthe Maikai x Guarianthe aurantiaca)

Your lovely chid is Bc Little Marmaid 'Janet'

Thanks to Susanne and Ben for the info. I really wasn't questioning the info but just reiterating what was on the preprinted tag. Ed Busby is a nice guy and I've gotten several orchids thru him. That doen't mean thing don't go a-rye once in a while. Heaven knows with all the clones out there, there are bound to be mistakes. But I really appreciate the clarification.

Don

Very lovely. The "Little Marmaid" is also one of my favorite cattleyas.

Great stuff. Info and the orchid. Thanks for sharing, Don. I learn so much from the OB.
