New Purchases!
Hi All,
I just got home from shopping at a Maine Orchid Greenhouse that had a 20% off sale this week only. He does this annually. Thank you, thank you Woodsprites! I'm so excited! These are the fellas that wanted to come home with me!
I got a Blc. Success Dream 'Miracles' that is in bloom with two more buds coming.
Blc. Chia Lin 'New City' AM/AOS in bud
Mtda Maui Charm 'Sakura' (I stll have to read up on this one....no idea but too cute!) 3 spikes!!!!! Only 1 showing, though.
Paph Spicerianum ('Lisa x Slim Jim') with a bud
Tolunia Genting Peach (another I have no idea about but also....too cute!) 2 spikes ready to open.

New purchases are always so exciting!! They look like really happy and healthy orchids. You are lucky to have such a nice vendor near you.
I can't wait to see all of them in full bloom! (of course you'll post pics )

I envy folks who have room for the biggies (maybe one day). But I could always use another Tolumnia or a small Paph or 2 or 3.

I got the Tolumnia because I remembered you writing about it a while back and I was intrigued to find one there. I can't quite read the tag well enough, but will figure out the right name (Spelled Tolumnia wrong the first time and probably got the name with it wrong too) This will be fun to figure out as I go. Thanks, Ross, for bringing that orchid to my attention. I know I will love it.

Just remember the mantra of Tolumnia growers: water every day - dry totally by night. Bare root is even fine, if that's what it takes. Enjoy.

Great selection, great variety you got there, Kiki! How FUN! Enjoy! Bringing home newbies or receiving packages in the mail, is something to celebrate! As Martha Stewart would say, It's a good thing.

Well, not necessarily, Becky. It all depends on how they're potted. I've got mine in mostly charcoal with a little bit of bark, water every 4-6 days and they're all happy. Bare root or just charcoal has advantages but, everyday watering may not suit one's lifestyle....the orchids maybe, but not mine!
