I got similar growth using too much KLN.
It could also be local change in gene expression for other reasons.

I certainly would not worry about it just yet.

Well...here's an updated pic... It's still very bizarre. I was still thinking that it was going to be another leaf (or two!) and that may still be what it is. However, if so, they are quite small! Truly peculiar.

Bizarre is an understatement! It almost looks like a keiki??? Plants do the darnest things sometimes. It will be interesting how this alien keeps developing!
