Default Lc Amber Glow 'Magnificent'

This one was amongst the first hybrids I bought as a mericlone (a long time ago...)
It's not easy to grow and bloom, and only in the last two years I have some success!
I'm particulary happy 'cause I was out for a week, and we had very high temps (36° C!!), storms, the temps dropped quickly, and the flowers are still there, waiting for me !!!

I usually don't find yellows impressive, but these are. Congrats!

Hi!

Thank you for looking! Susanne, it has a not-so-strong lemmon/honey perfume! I finally realized that this plant does not like the same environment of other Catts; it grows better with less light (a little bit less than Phals need - look at the dark-green leaves!) and more moisture (I changed the media for sphagnum moss), and than....it works!

Frederico,

That is indeed beautiful! It seems like it has more influence that just color and shape from its C. dowiana background...with its need for more moisture and less light.

Congrats to you, and thanks for sharing with us. .

I guess you are right! Searching RHS I found that Lc Amber Glow contains more than 75% of C. dowiana! And dowiana (today C aurea) is a very, very demanding plant! Even primary hybrids with C dowiana (C Hardyana and Lc Luminosa), with 'only' 50% of dowiana, are much easier to grow than Lc Amber Glow! Thanks for the 'insight'!

Guess you have found the best method of growing for that orchids. Very nice blooms. Great looking plant.
