Cattleya schilleriana var. imperialis
I had four leads with respectively 5, 3, 3 and 2 buds on this plant. When the buds were about to open a sudden, intense cold wave hit my region dramatically dropping the temperature from about 28-30ºC at noon to 12ºC at night. As a result, 5 buds were lost! Too bad! But, the remaining 8 buds (one of them doesn't appear in the photos) became these beautiful, amazingly fragrant flowers that can be seen on the photos below.

Beautiful Mauro! Well done. 
By the way, I have a plant labeled Cattleya schilleriana, and I'm guessing it is a standard type.
I notice that yours is var. imperialis, and I was wondering what the difference is. I am expecting mine to bloom next spring, as it has two new growths and a sheath in one. Thanks |

David, variety imperialis is redder than the type, which is a greenish-brown, and has flat lips as large as 4 cm across. Although the photo below is of a plant with too much green, the type is more or less in that line.
