I finally got my Blc. George King 'Serendipity' AM/AOS to bloom again after almost loosing it two years ago shortly after I bought it.
It was potted in sphagnum when I received it, with a nice layer of fir bark on top. I didn't even realize the sphag was there until the leaves started to look wrinkly. All the roots were rotted, but I nurtured it anyway...and as you can see... There is another bud poking its tip out from beneath teh lower left-hand petal.
Very nice, David. I know from experience that it's a great feeling of accomplishment to bring a plant back from the brink of death and not only nurture it back to good health, but also get it to bloom. From the minimal look that's provided of the leaves in your picture, the plant itself looks to be very healthy. Congratulations.
I was given one of these by my MIL last year and I think it's gorgeous...but...I also think I might be allergic to it! I took a big whiff because it smells so lovely...and could barely breathe for 3 or 4 days! Talk about clogged and sniffly! I now know that I can't get my nose too close to it when it's in bloom
Great save David; I always forget to get one of these when I place new orders and always regret it!! At least we have this great photo of one of the best-est!!!
