I was given this plant by a good friend who purchased it as a small mericlone from a commercial grower. Its supposed to be Laelia anceps V Gaston Bultel.
Its growth habit is that of L.anceps including the long spikes with up to 4 flower per spike . The lip doesn't fit the bill, anyone seen anything like it.
It's a beauty!
Just a wild random thought but ...
Could it perhaps be Laelia anceps X C. Gaston Bultel ?
I found C. Gaston Bultel in the RHS registry = Cattleya Maggie Raphael X Cattleya mossiae ...
(Cattleya Maggie Raphael = Cattleya dowiana X Cattleya trianae)
Perhaps that lineage has had some influenced on the lip formation?
