Great Photo, shows the sparkling red.

What a find.

How tall is the plant?
I would appreciate it if you let us know if it develops a fragrance.

No fragrance. So that means I can buy a Sherry Baby, don't you think? The full name of that red orchid is Blc. Dinh Thuy Yen AM/AOSX Slc. Madge Fordyce. Since I never remember the whole thing, I call it Madge. It is very compact, probably no taller than 12 inches. It's widest point must be about 18". I bought it at the local orchid show about a year and a half ago. Carol

I guess I just have to send you a division of my Sharry Baby. She is house-trained and sophisticated. The vase is only 6 in. in diameter so she will be able to come with me even if I end up in a nursing home. Her twin, also in full bloom, was already given to my best rose-nut buddy, who is recovering from heart surgery and I am encouraging to try orchids.

She does not seem to mind having her offsprings sent off to distant location on the planet. One even made its way back to the homeland, near the Amazon. Isn't it amazing how orchids use us to propogate their genes.

As soon as Madge is big enough to divide, we can swap is what. We are so cooperative.

Hi Carol,

Your plant is a beautiful cross! Way to go!

Although it is an unregistered cross, it is still a Potinara. When a Blc. is crossed with a Slc., you get a Pot. Ta-da!
