Laelia rupestris Lindl.
Laelia rupestris of Lindley was known for a while as Laelia crispata (Thunb.) of Garay. These pink flowers are beautiful in the wild!
In the 70’s Garay mistakenly renamed as Laelia crispata (Thunb.) the pink flower that Lindley had described as Laelia rupestris.
Garay was studying a certain Cymbidium crispatum described by Thunberg in 1818 and concluded that the Cym. crispatum of Thunberg was the pink Laelia rupestris of Lindley (described in 1842). He, in respect to the preceding publication, renamed the pink Laelia rupestris Lindl. to Laelia crispata (Thunb.) Garay.
Unfortunately, Garay did a mistake, because the Cymbidium crispatum of Thunberg was, actually, the yellow flower that Lindley had described in 1839 as Laelia flava and Francisco Miranda demonstrated this fact. By his turn, Miranda, in respect to the precedence rules, reestablished the name Laelia rupestris Lindl. for the pink flower and renamed the yellow L. flava of Lindley to its correct name Laelia crispata (Thunb.) F.E.Miranda.

Kind words of you, guys! Thank you very much! But we are here to share aren't we? I may know a few things, you guys know some other things, we share and in the end we all leave with more than when we got in! And OB is fantastic for that, don't you think?
