Default Background of Sc Luminosa?

A friend of mine asked for the parentage of Sc Luminosa. She said she was finding two sets of information when she researched it through the internet and RHS.

I checked Orchidwiz and even there it's listed twice, each time with different parentage!

Very confusing to say the least

One entry has:

Sophrocattleya Luminosa
(Sophrocattleya Chamberlainiana x Cattleya dowiana)

Background is:
Sophrocattleya Chamberlainiana
(C harrisoniana x S coccinea)

Sc Luminosa is 50% dowiana and 25/25 of the harrisoniana and coccinea

and the other has this:

Sophrocattleya Luminosa
(Cattleya dowiana x Sophronitis tenebrosa)

I checked the Geneology and the pedigree and they're both listed as 50% and 50% of each

Does anybody have a clue about which is correct?

Susanne. Sorry, nobody has responded. Wish I could help but my knowledge is way way way too basic. Where is Dorothy hiding at?

Thanks June

It's not a question most people would have the answer to...I'll just have to wait and hope for the best

Background of Sc Luminosa?
Default Sc. Luminosa

Before the big change of names (Cattleya dowiana x Sophronitis tenebrosa) was still a Laeliacattleya (Lc.). The old name of Sophronitis tenebrosa was Laelia tenebrosa. Now we have to face the fact, to have two Sophrocattleya Luminosa because Laelia tenebrosa was moved to the Sophronities genus.
How this will be resolved is in the hands of the RHS.
All pictures I did find on the internet are coming from Cattleya dowiana x Sophronitis tenebrosa. It looks like that Sophrocattleya Chamberlainiana is not used as much as Sophronitis tenebrosa to make hybrids.

I was just checking as well and have two entries with the parentage you cited above. I don't know which is correct but it's a very interesting point.

If you find out let us know.

Its on AQ Plus. The parents are listed as Sc Chamberlainiana and C dowiana. The parents of Chamberlainiana are listed as C harrisoniana and Soph coccinea.

I did a quick check to see if Soph tenebrosa was listed at all in the species and it was not. So I'm assuming that with all the name changing that goes on the first result you found was correct and the second is left from some old names.

Ok, now I'm confused as all get out. I found S tenebrosa, but it was under Laelia tenebrosa. Looks like the change occured somewhere around 2005-06. After that you start to see awards under S tenebrosa.

I still think that the Sc Chamberlianiana X C dowiana was the correct one. Just harder to rule out the second one because of all the name changes that get you turned around.

This is way too much thinking before morning coffee. Maybe I'll have some better thoughts after the fog lifts......

LOL...this question came up as Linda was researching the geneolgy of her Rsc Toshie Aoki. She asked me to check Orchidwiz and that's where I got confused.

It was stuck in the back of my mind all day and last night, the came on!

Here's what I found but I'm still very confused
