the title pretty much explains what i am asking. what alliance is liparis in? i am trying to find out so i can find out how to care for it.

it's in the cattleya alliance, but you may want to search for information on the exact species you have

I wouldn't say that Liparis is closely linked with Tribe Epidendreae, which includes Cattleya, Laelia, Epidendrum, and other genera.

Instead, Liparis is grouped in Tribe Malaxideae, which consists of only Malaxis, Liparis, and Oberonia. These genera are mostly terrestrial and sometimes epiphytic, and are distributed on several continents.

Which Liparis species do you have so we can help you? For the most part, they like shade, but temperature and watering differs from species to species...
