Potinara Hoku Gem growing help Male
Question Potinara Hoku Gem growing help

I got a Potinara Hoku Gem about to weeks ago It had both yellow and orange flowers and I incountered a problem I read that when the flower opens it stays orange for about a week or so then it turns yellow. The problem is though that when the flower first opened it was yellow and the flower had a short life spand. how do I fix it

The flower most likely aborted because of a change in conditions. Chances are you are growing it differently (even if ever so slightly) than the place that you bought the plant from. I would not worry about it as the next time it flowers it will be stayng in your conditions and will last forever. **This is 1 of only a few hybrids I have in my collection and it grows like a weed

I had the same exact thing happen to me with a Masdevallia striatella I got at OrchidFest. Came home with about 15-20 flowers (freshly opened) and in about a 2 days some started to fade already.

This is one of my favorite plants. Mine has been in bloom for about a month. I don't think mine was red for a week. It was kind of an orangey/red for about 4-5 days before it started turning yellow.

Tom is right. Yours is most likely experiencing "bud blast". Buds blast when they are moved from one environment to another. Once it adjusts to your conditions it will be fine.
