It seems despite it is 'not accepted', these unofficial names are still used?
Please, help me understand.

Sorry, Dorothy, my poor English did not help and I did a mess with L. lucasiana, L. lucasiana var. fournieri and L. fournieri.
I meant to say that Laelia lucasiana is not accepted as an independent species and in consequence Laelia lucasiana var. fournieri (the white) also is not.
I also wanted to say that Laelia longipes var. fournieri (that many still call L. lucasiana var. fournieri) could be a problem because it is so plentiful in nature that it could not simply be considered the alba variety of Laelia longipes (as it was, actually, described by Cogniaux).
Recognizing this fact, in 1993, F.L. Miranda split the plant with white flowers from L. longipes and, following the nomenclatural rules, named it Laelia fournieri.
As always, some accept, some don't, but his work is perfectly valid under the ICBN.
So, today there is Laelia longipes and Laelia fournieri only, but people often don't know of these changes and keep using the names they know and this is exactly the case with L. lucasiana and L. lucasiana var. fournieri. It is understandable, because it is not easy to keep updated with the numerous nomenclatural changes that have been taking place these times.
Well, there's not such a thing as 'official' in nomenclatural taxonomy, I agree. There is the ICBN and there are taxonomists and their egos
. I used this word meaning the two modern nomenclatural databases I consider very useful, the Missouri Botanical Garden Tropicos Database and the RBG - Kew World Checklist Series.
Sorry again if my previous post was not clear enough, but I wrote it yesterday at almost 1 a.m. and I think I was already asleep...
