One of her two blooms opened overnight! She is only my second bloom that I can take credit for. I am thrilled!

Give it a couple of days to really fill out. That lip'll curl back some and the petals with stand flatter.

I'm always amazed at the opening process of laeliinae. Sophronitis are REALLY cool, because you can practically watch the petals expand.

Thanks, all! Yes, I really love the rupicolous Laelias too.
My growing conditions are really pretty simple. Southern window with direct sun exposure from about 11am–3pm, about 50–60% humidity. The fournieri I water twice a week, and fertilize weakly every three weeks. I also have L. mixta, and both of them have just been growing like gang-busters!

Forgot to add that they get really good air circulation too. They are among the group of 'chids right closest to my fan.

My pleasure, Dorothy! Given how those two have done so far, I see some more rock Laelias in my future...
