Default Cattleya Claesiana 'Yellow Eyes'

It took me three years of surveillance over more than 500 plants of this cross until I find the only two perfumed ones, this being one of them. This is a primary cross between Cattleya intermedia (here the aquini form was used) and Cattleya loddigesii. It is really, really rare to find pure C. intermedia or C. loddigesii with perfumed flowers. I could find only two perfumed plants out of more than 500!

There is a small nursery in the neighborhood that was just starting and wasn't known yet. They had (and still have!) very few customers. So, I followed this cross flowerings for three years... yes... smelling, smelling !
