I have one that's struggling a bit right now, but what I've been told is...

high humidity
low light
lots of moisture
nice and warm
conflicting info on if it does well mounted vs potted.

Mounted if you can. But only if you have the humidity to make it happen.

I don't see these at shows as often as I should. People should grow this species more. Will get you ribbons and trophies if you do it right...

It's about a year from blooming age, can't wait to see it first hand. The humidity should not be a problem, since I'm in south Louisiana! It will be in a greenhouse also.

I would put it on a piece of cork with a little bit of sphagnum moss over the roots, and tie it on with some fishing line. Then lay it down for a few weeks before hanging it up. What is best for you? I have no idea... You might have a more suitable local material to mount with, and perhaps the sphagnum moss is overkill in southern LA. Heck, you might be able to just tie it to a tree.

Rob (25F this morning when I woke up. Snow tomorrow again, I hear... yuck).

Rob, 25 degrees seems warm to me today!

As for the Epi, try mounting it on Live Oak bark. I do this with my Encyclias and they love it.
