Ross, I'd say that yes, it is a good candidate for a window. For you to have a better idea, this particular plant is 13cm high and 11 cm long (four pseudo bulbs). It is true that some plants of this species can be a little higher than this, but not much more.

Dave, winter nights are cold here where I have my grh (940m above the sea level); these very low temps generally occurs in the dawn and for a few hours only, but are enough to cause serious damages to buds. Cold waves coming from the South Pole hit my area with intensity during the winter months. Higher areas in my State can easily reach temps as low as 4ºC negative.
