Bc Roman Holiday 'Mahogany Beauty' CCM/AOS/HCC
I picked this one up recently, a division of the original awarded plant, and am head over heels about it
It was in bloom and gorgeous when I got it but I had no idea where in the blooming process it was. Yesterday, I came home to find a number of additional buds opened so now I have a point of reference for the color changes that have occurred.
The lighter colored blooms are the older ones, the darker are the new blooms...I love them all!

So they go from a burgundy when they open to an orangy/yellow when they are mature blooms. Sweet!!! And the lip is really pretty. I'm sure that they last a long time. Congrats !!!

Cattlianthe Chocolate Drop and Brassavola nodosa !
Is it fragrant?

LOL...D, I've noticed recently that many of the hybrids I love the most have Chocolate Drop as a parent ...and you know how I feel about C Chocolate Drop
It is V-E-R-Y fragrant but not overpowering...smells kinda like roses
The division is in an 8 inch pot!
I've been trying to keep my new additions down to compact or smaller plants but there was no passing this one by!

Yes, and now I can see where the "Mahogany Beauty' part of the name came from

Thanks for the update on this gem, Sue! I got the plant I ordered from Clan Orchids yesterday. Looks pretty good, with two or maybe three new growths starting. Man, is this going to be a long wait. I'm really glad to know that it smells good. Believe me when I say, 'Thanks, oh great enabler'!

In all the excitement, I forgot to mention the person who started all this for me. Last November, Laura N posted "B nodosa 'Panama Soiree' x C. Chocolate Drop 'Kodama' ", which we found out is Bc. Roman Holiday. So thanks, also, oh great enabler Laura!
