This guy is huge! The flowers are about 3 inches tall!
My true species of the same plant have blooms that are half the size

Between the two of them, these blooms are almost always around! Great, easy growing chid...everybody should have one...or two

clamshell orchid (common name?) I bet that would be one of those that would grow on your tree really well BUT would you risk it? LOL

I would wait and make sure it is one of the wild orchids in your zone. I have a book at home which I'll check called Wild Orchids of Florida and see. I think it might get a little nippy there in the winter for that particular one. I forsee an orchid or more on your trees in the future though

I just looked it up in Orchidwiz and checked on the temperature range. Winter nights average 51-53 with an 8-10 degree variance up or down.

We've had nights that are below 43, not a lot but we do have them so...

Eventually, I'm sure I'll come up with something I can put on a tree!

Funny you should mention that...I realized today that the one I have mounted has two new growths going strong

We'll see if I get brave enough
