Cattleya aclandiae
This is a first bloom for this particular plant. I got it and mounted it a few years ago and it really seems to like it! This little guy has cranked out 3 consecutive (all in a row, not at the same time) p-bulbs since January which is SUPER fast IMO for any Catt type. The previous 2 bulbs had these dead little flower nubs when the leaves opened up and I thought I was doing something wrong!! I think it just needed to get a bit bigger to bloom. Anyway, I took the first 2 pics right where it grows (I know, Im getting lazy ), but the fact that it was in the shade kinda tooks some color away from that lip, which is very vibrant. The final pic is in the sun to show the correct color but I dont know how successful I was. Thanks for checkin out my pics!!

Nothing wrong with the pics (in my opinion). I'm not normally a Cat person, but this one peaked my interest. If only it weren't so darned big!

Thanks! Actually, this species is not big at all, for a Catt. I think the cork that it is on is a foot long at the most and there is a TON of room for it to grow across. You can see the bulbs are maybe..... 4 inches long?

I love this species! Very well grown Steve!. This is fragrant isn't it?
I sure wish I had more room. My shelf space is about maxed out. We've been talking about moving to a house with a bit more land. Maybe someday a greenhouse will be in my future.

Ugh, I'm envious of you! Mine just continues to making rambling new growths all over the cork plaque that I attached it to last summer. While I really like all of its crazy roots, it would be nice to actually see at least one measly little flower some day. In the mean time I'll just get my fix by repeatedly looking at yours. Congratulations. You did a great job.
