Rosim wow you know me,, i love the full shots!!! very nice my freind, im looking at trying to make some little wooden plant crates like this pot you have here, they seem to love the openness of these stlyle pots so the roots can dangle and crawl out and around!! do you buy your pots (Clay or wooden) ? or do you make them yourself???? love it my freind,i wish i could visit your country some day!!

The plants really like this kind of open pots, Craig, but I'm always in trouble when it is time to repot. That's the only weakness I see. This is a pot developed by a local nursery, so I don't need to make it myself. Also, I buy the clay pots in a specialized producer in the country. He has been producing clay pots for orchid growers for more than 15 years. His pots fit very well to our needs.

i wish i could get rustic looking pots like yours here in the USA ,even the little wood crates cant be found here ,does your potter sell on the net or send bulk out of the country??i see what you mean though about the roots being tangled in the crates, one more quick question if you dont mind,,, what kind of fertalizer products do you use down there??? i know your busy, hope you have time to answer. have a great day,, thanks for posting all the great pictures of your orchids for all of us, ok!!

Craig, I am almost sure they do not export. But, I'll ask them about next time I go there.

As for the fertilizer, I use an organic formula specially developed for orchids by the people of the AOSP (São Paulo Orchid Society) one of our local Orchid Societies. Orchid growers here call it the 'Miraculous Fertilizer'. I must agree and say that it really is a good fertilizer. Of course, they don't reveal the know-how behind its manufacture...
Besides this, I use a regular formula 30-10-10-5-3 (NPKCalMag) that also contains 4% of sucrose and micronutrients for bare root plants like Vandas, those mounted, some Rogriguezias and also some Oncidium that I grow with roots free in the air.
