Default Brassavola nodosa x Caulathron bicornutum

I've had this one for only a few years. First blooms for this plant. It has a little damage from some recent rains, but there is another spike forming. Mostly white (of course) with cool purple speckling on the front and back of the petals and sepals. The lip is long and juts strait out, and the throat has a small, slight yellow-green tint.

I've been smelling it at different times of the day, but no fragrance was detected for the first 3 or 4 days. Then all of a sudden when I smelled it the other day -- Skin Lotion.

Well, it's not bad. It's quite nice actually. It's just a very familiar smell, and I couldn't place it. My wife totally agrees -- it really smells like lotion!

I'd grow a french fry orchid.

The dots on the white surface remind me of Breyer's vanilla ice cream. Hum... I'm off to the store. lol
Nice photos by the way.

I just mounted a "lady of the night" division that I got at an auction at our club meeting. Nodosa usually smell better in the evening.....however, I think the little purple spots are charming. Must come from the Caulathron?? Thanks for sharing.
