Default Cattleya quadricolor var. semi-alba

Here's another Cattleya quadricolor var. semi-alba. This one has a very light rose blush in the throat giving it a beautiful effect that I could not properly capture in the photograph.

I'm sometimes baffled by the fact that many species aren't as popular as I would think that they should be. This one is no exception. I understand that judging by the current (and seemingly arbitrary) standards that are used for large-flowered cattleyas that the cupped shape of quadricolor's flowers aren't considered ideal. But that, in my opinion, is ridiculous. The flowers on your plant are beautiful, Mauro. Now, can you tell me whether or not they are fragrant also?

Steve

I second your words, Steve. Ridiculous fits like glove to the idea that these kind of flowers are not desirable or ideal. Unfortunately, many people pay full attention to this kind of 'technicalities' that dominates judging and all. The beauty you appreciate, you feel it.
And yes, C. quadricolor has an awesome sweet perfume!!

Another white that I love. I have a white one that just opened today, C. Louise Georgiana, 'Perfection' but she is not a full figured and she lacks any color in the throat. Just a pure white.

Sorry, I didn't. I'll see if I have time tomorrow.....and keep in mind that my photo skills (and camera) are not as good as yours! I need a better set-up with the background etc.
