Default Laelia gouldiana Rchb.f.

Beautiful Mexican Laelia species, very similar to the well-known Laelia anceps, both flower and vegetative parts, but darker in color and also with generally better shape than the the latter.

Gosh, those are beautiful blooms & as always your photos are stunning. . .

But, and I am sorry to say this, they look like those poor people in those early photos from the wild wild west, where they had to have their backs braced, so that they would not move and blur the photo.

Maybe you could use a little rafia or something instead?

Maybe, Gwen! I use bamboo sticks to assure the stems are not going to break during transportation - I usually transport my orchids from my grh to the Orchid Society for something like 80 miles. Would hate having one of these broken. I don't like photographing this way, but this one was ready to go when I remembered that I hadn't photographed it yet!

Pretty scary to transport such beautiful orchids IN BLOOM for such a distance!

Makes perfect sense!

You know, I hadn't though about it, but it would be really pretty to have some curly (thin) branches intermingled within the blooms on a diagonal?

The branches could be used partially for bloom support (hidden with rafia or soft wire ties). . and COULD be aesthetically interesting too for photos.

Just a thought. . .
