Is this a mini or medium size inflorescense? Usually how many buds per spike? Haven't had the opportunity to see before. Thanks.

Frank, the type flower is olive green to yellowish in the background with the characteristic purplish-brown spots. The plants having redish flowers instead of the olive-green are considered variety Imperialis. Please, allow me to post here both for you to see the difference, OK?
