Cattleya walkeriana
Regular flower of the species. I rescued this at our orchid society. It used to be grown by a colleague that was abandoning the hobby. Perfumed, of course!

There's that fan shaped lip again.....I guess I just have to get one. Did you give it CPR?

Very nice! It seems to me that you grow it in sphagnum moss, isn't it?

Yes, Claudia, all my walkerianas and nobilior are planted in sphagnum moss (a similar moss we have here) and clay pots with excellent results. All that you have to do is adjust watering to the moss behavior.

Don, the lip shape you see is normal in walkerianas.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is CPR?

Thank you Mauro
I've to admit that i'm a little bit confused about this... I've read from many people that walkeriana and nobilior work better mounted without anything, cause they love to dry fast. But you and an other grower specialized in walkeriana e nobilior grow them in sphagnum moss.
For sure, clay pot assure a good air circulation, but sphag has to be manteined always moist...
So, I think these two growing methods are opposite...and now i'm wondering on how grow mine at the best

So, Claudia, there's a lot of myths on orchids, especially on walkerianas and nobilior. People say that they hate humid media, like moss. Myths exist to be broken. Walkerianas do well mounted, of course, but they also love moss and grow in this media better, much better than mounted! As I said before, the key is the watering.

Mauro - I was joking with you. You stated that you rescued the orchid from demise. CPR is: cardiopulmonary rescuscitation. That is when an individual has a heart attack and you want to perhaps "rescue" him, you give them CPR which may save their life. I know you have heard of it but may be called something else where you live. See we all learn more than just orchids!

Indeed, if you have these results... i think that to broken the myths is a great idea
Actually I have a mounted walkeriana well growing (but, damn, all new growths seem to be roting, maybe too much humidity and/or water condensed inside...) and a nobilior purchased without a root...now it has begun to root, maybe i could put it into sphagnum?
When you talk about watering, do you mean that it's important to keep sphagnum always moist but not wet, right?
