Default Having a brain freeze on repotting, help!

I have a very large Catt in a 6 inch pot with 6 new spike growths. The catt is horribly rootbound and I decided to repot. I soaked her for an hour just to get her out of the pot. I cut the roots that were mushy and black (not very many). I sprayed with physan. Now I thought I had large orchid mix already soaked and ready, but it was the fine stuff. What do I do?
Leave catt out of pot until the larger medium has soaked 24 hours?
Use the finer orchid mix I have already prepared?
Put the catt in the larger orchid mix that is not previously soaked and ready?
Honestly, I can't think straight today. I need opinions and I thank you in advance.

Leave the plant out. Take your time and use the medium that you like. A day or two of dry conditions is much better than a lifetime of poor drainage.

Thanks you two! I should know these things. Sometimes it doesn't make sense until someone reaffirms things for me.
I'm a brunette having a blonde moment. (No offense anyone).

I agree, definitely wait and prepare the right mix. I've had that happen to me, too - I just get a plastic bag and do a mini-sphag & bag (or moist paper towel & bag) until I can come back to it.

I've left plants bare root wrapped in a damp paper towel for a couple of days with no ill effects. Better to use the right size media.

You can leave them out a few days without any damage. But I've also (most of the time) planted with dry material then soaked the whole thing, pot and all. Working with dry material is easier to me than soaking the stuff before hand.
