Walkerianas-new growth or new spike?
Good afternoon to every one.
I have attached 3 pictures of one of my Walkerianas, is a sibbling of Raquel Soberana x Miriam Juliato. Itīs been in my house since october 2022, as it was planted attached to bark and this way is not easy for me to keep humidity, i put everything in a basquet with pine bark and some moss.
A new green tip showed from the rizome around january and i thought it was a new growth. The only walkeriana that has flowered at home for me did it in december.
A few day ago i noticed that the new growth was very thick at the top and yesterday, as the leave started opening, big surprise, there is a treasure inside.
Will they open? I hope so,
All the best

Congrats Pep. I also could not determine if the new activity was growth or bud. After 4 years of waiting, I finally have 2 buds on this Walkeriana. It is evident now that they are buds. Patience!!

Patience... That sort of growth (tiny leaf producing buds) is characteristic of C. walkeriana. Sometimes they'll bloom from a regular growth too, but this is its "preferred" behavior.

Thank you Roberta. i have seen several pictures or videos where you can appreciate the diversity of growth, just a leave, a tiny leave and buds and the one of my plant, a normal growth (l expect a normal leave when it stop growing) that opens and contains buds.
It was an unexpected gift and i am very pleased.
As the only walkeriana i have had in bloom started the spike growth many months ago, i thought now is not the normal time for blooming, the rest of my plants have just new regular?? growths.
I will post a picture when the buds open
