It's the term for a human created hybrid genus. Potinara (abbreviation Pot.) is one, although it's now obsolete. It means a plant with ancestors from Brassavola (B.), Cattleya (C.), Laelia (L.) and Sophronitis (S.) But the Brassavola species used for most of them was moved into genus Rhyncholaelia (Rl.) The Laelia species used were mostly moved into Cattleya. All Sophronitis species were moved into Cattleya. Thus, most (not all) former Potinaras are now in nothogenus Rhyncholaeliocattleya, Rlc.
