I have been trying--and failing--to get this species to "grow on me" a little. But I have to say that I'm not sure what all of the fuss is about. The flowers are a bit wispy, and the scent is (to be charitable) light and not generally noticeable from a distance. I do like the tall growths that the lowland variety (of which this is one) produces, however, as I have a fondness for large-growing orchids. In its favor, I can say that it's been an easy species to grow and bloom. And who knows? Maybe I'll grow fond of it with time, especially if it continues to increase in height.

It's true, the flowers aren't much on their own, and I wish they had more of a fragrance. Still, the lavender does glow in the light, and I also like the tall growth habit and the ease of culture. Can't get rid of mine either.

Your flower display looks great. Part of the appeal might be the number of blooms that are produced per spike, which look great as a group. Thank you for your response--and for posting a picture of your flowering plant.
