Certainly, now would be a good time. Once that one root makes contact, it’ll signal the rest of the plant to follow suit, especially with an addition growth just sprouting.

Water it frequently once you do.

By the way, there is nothing set in stone about “roots emerging after the bulb matures”. It can happen at any time and varies all over the map among genera and species.
