Laelia (Cattleya) grandis
Default Laelia (Cattleya) grandis

First blooming on Laelia (Cattleya) grandis from AWZ. The psuedobulbs are much thinner than purpuratas or tenebrosas and I've had a difficult time getting these established from bareroot. Not sure if that's true in general or if I happen to get thinner strains.

The buds are a dark bronze like tenebrosa, but the interior is a light yellow with blush of bronze. Lips have a lovely ruffle and rose striations.

The petals reflex backwards and I find it to be a charming characteristic It's a more delicate tenebrosa, smaller and more subdued, in my eyes haha.
