Default Cattleya Cappei

Hello,

I recently bought a flowering size cattleya cappei (schroederae x trianae) and was wondering if anyone else has this plant in their collection or knows more about it's cultivation.

I've looked online but there doesn't seem to be much information on the hybrid apart from it's parentage and the year the cross was registered.

I didnt find a whole lot either with an initial search.

Looks like it has never received an AOS award

There are two hy rids with the same name:

Cattleya Cappei (1889)
C. warscewiczii × C. cinnabarina

Cattleya Cappei (1902)
C. schroederae x C. trianae.

Im sure it is a vigerous hybrid with very average cattleya care. Is there any other specific info you want to know? I get that its nice to find an article with some history but its not always around.

Thanks for the welcome,

I just created this account and wasn't sure whether I should have posted an introductory post or not hahahaha.

Hi Louis,

Thanks for your help. Yeah that's all I was able to find as well.

There wasn't really anything in specific I was looking to find out about it really. It was just the first orchid I purchased that wasn't a Phalaenopsis and have been obsessed with reading everything and anything I can find.

The previous owner told me it flowered for him in February and it currently has a new pseudobulb growing so hopefully it'll flower again this coming February.

Interesting that a primary hybrid beween two very important cattleya species is almost absent on the internet...

On the other hand there is a ton to read about the parents! Try chadwicks articles if you havent already read those

I also have Cattleya Cappei (schroederae x trianae) in my collection. Not flowered yet, because still young, but expect next season.
