With all the Cattleya orchids registered every year it may be a daunting task to find one particular one. Especially one that was registered thirty years ago unless it garnered numerous AOS awards or was mericloned. Also, it doesn’t appear to have been registered by a big nursery or hybridizer. Two suggestions, besides this forum you may want to post a want ad on the unclassified ads section of Orchid Mall. And if you can’t find anyone who has this Cattleya for sale, my other suggestion is to buy a seedling and give it your own clonal name, which would be in single quotation marks after the registered name. You could name it ‘Magnificent Mardell’, or your Mother’s exact name, even if it is or isn’t Peggy.
There are often select (sometimes possible potential award quality) seedlings for sale for $50 to $100. from reputable sellers, you could look for a particularly nice looking one to acquire an bestow a clonal name to honor your mother. Good luck.
