old encyclia alata
I gave a friend an encyclia alata from a compot that I bought from H&R nurseries in Hawaii many moons ago.
It was mounted on a piece of wood and during one of my visits I suggested that He place it in the center of a triple roebellini palm cluster in his yard and it has been there now for over twenty years. My friend has been retired and I have taken him on as an orchid newbie caring for his Wife's orchids. The man is good student and a quick learner. The plant is in a perfect spot and the only problem is removing the seed clusters from palms before they fall and choke the plant.
This years bloom entails a total of 62 spikes.
