It's been awfully hot lately in San Diego (perhaps I shouldnt complain with a hotter heat wave in the east!) but my C. purpuratas seem to thrive in it. The first ones are just opening now. A lovely fruit loops fragrance fills the air.

And a C. Pulcherrima (lobata x purpurata)

Yup, the purps are popping all over the place at my house too! Pretty much on schedule. Jeff, yours look great, fantastic display. Mine, rather uncontrolled.

Thanks! Once these get going, they are fantastic. Looking forward to seeing yours next year, Louis_W!

I think these are the more well behaved ones. I get a little crazy with the staking to control them anyway, haha.

Looks like the werkhauseri and alba is poking through the sheath now... maybe next week!
